The first really strongly email marketed group buying aggregator launched in 2011 in South Africa: DealZone. With a flying start, DealZone.co.za brought in really good traffic and rocketed to the first place in the growing daily deal aggregator industry.
DealZone lists deals in a vertical format and does not focus on who is offering them. Clicks on deals are tracked and link straight to the group buying site concerned, so that the customer can start buying immediately. The deals can be sorted and ranked by the type of deal, the amount of time left to buy it, the price (very importantly) and various other factors. In this way, DealZone gets people clicking and traffic buzzing on their website. The website itself is also properly laid out and has a good feel to it, and also does not list any deals from Groupon.
Group buying websites will not necessarily like aggregators such as DealZone soon, since they might start taking away subscribers who leave the single sites to join a site where all the deals are listed. DealZone will continue to provide good deals from all the websites on their platform, and with the right email database of happy subscriber, they will have the upper edge in this arena of the group buying industry.
Their site also looks great and is well designed:
